Before submitting, please read the guidelines carefully.
Our Editorial Focus
Greymantle’s Politics & Culture publishes commentary, analysis, and long-form writing at the intersection of politics, society, history, culture, power, and ideas.
Our coverage includes, but is not limited to:
- Global and regional politics
- Political theory, ideology, and governance
- Culture, media, identity, and social change
- History and its influence on present systems
- International relations and geopolitical trends
We are especially interested in context-rich writing that goes beyond headlines and explores why events matter, not just what happened.

- Interviews with academics, policymakers, writers, or cultural figures
- Original photo essays or visual storytelling (with proper rights)
If you have a unique format or experimental idea, feel free to pitch it.
Writing Style & Standards
We value clarity, originality, and intellectual honesty.
Please keep in mind:
- Write in clear, accessible English
- Support arguments with credible sources (hyperlink them within the text)
- Avoid academic jargon, rigid theory sections, or thesis-style framing
- Do not use phrases like “this paper examines” or “the author argues”
- Write with confidence, but avoid partisan sloganeering or propaganda
- Use a neutral, analytical tone—even when expressing strong views
- The use of humor and humorous anecdotes is both permissible and welcomed
Originality & Ethics
All submissions must be original in the sense that they do not plagiarize the work of others. We do not accept plagiarism in any form, including close paraphrasing without attribution.
Plagiarism of other people’s work will result in permanent rejection.
Reuse of your own previously written material is allowed. If your draft includes material that has appeared elsewhere (including your own blog, newsletter, or past publications), please disclose that in your submission.
We welcome AI-assisted and AI-generated articles. If you use AI tools to draft or refine your work, you remain responsible for the final submission, including accuracy, sourcing, and ensuring the piece does not include fabricated quotes, sources, or claims. Editors may request clarification or revisions where needed.
Previously published work must be clearly disclosed and is rarely accepted.
Images & Visuals
Original images, charts, or graphics are welcome if you own the rights.
If your piece includes data visualizations, we may request raw data to recreate visuals in our editorial style.
Compensation
At present, most guest contributions are unpaid. In some cases, we may offer compensation for:
- Original reporting
- High-effort, long-form analysis
- Commissioned features
The amount of compensation is negotiable with our editor-in-chief. As a general guideline, longer-form articles and/or pieces involving direct reporting typically start around $150 USD per article, and may increase depending on length, complexity, and reporting requirements.
If you are seeking payment, please clearly mention this in your pitch. Compensation must be agreed upon before publication.
